On November 14, the final round of the InnoWorks 2024 AIoT Developer Application Development Competition, organized by Vietnam-Germany University and Advantech Vietnam, showcased the talents of six outstanding teams from universities across the country. These teams presented innovative and practical ideas for Smart Healthcare and Smart Cities.

After five months of competition, the Pomona team from Vietnam-Germany University took home the First Prize with their non-contact meat quality testing device, utilizing Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) technology. The device classifies meat into three categories: fresh, spoiled, and preserved, while also providing the remaining shelf life, reducing the risk of poor-quality products for both industries and households.

Other notable ideas included a child safety alert system, a sleep apnea monitoring device for the elderly, and AI technology to optimize traffic lights.

The Pomona team was awarded the First Prize, worth 65 million VND, along with an additional 10 million VND reward from MDC for the most creative idea, marking a significant achievement in this year’s competition.

Ms. Duyen Thao, Director of MDC, remarked that the quality of the submissions has improved significantly each year, with practical and creative solutions addressing real-world problems. She also emphasized that MDC and Advantech Vietnam will continue to support students through internship and scholarship programs, providing opportunities for them to gain hands-on experience and stay updated with the latest technologies.
